Let’s be honest about Hive/Ecency’s two longest-running glitches, @freebornsociety and @buildawhale.
Nine-year accounts. Nine. Years. And this is the legacy?
@buildawhale has been posting the same fire energy for almost a decade like he’s in a long-term relationship with one emoji. Same flame. Same topic. Same recycled noise. That’s not consistency. That’s intellectual groundhog day.
Then you’ve got @freebornsociety. Also nine years deep. The last three years? No building. No creating. No contributing. Just sliding in to downvote like he’s getting paid per click.
Imagine investing nearly a decade into a platform just to become a professional subtractor. And the funniest part is both accounts are nine years old. Same lifespan. Same stagnation. It genuinely feels like they came pre-installed together. Buy one legacy bot, get the second free.
Because honestly, there’s no way two real adults sit on a platform for nine years and evolve this little.
It feels less like users and more like background code designed to inflate activity numbers.

Damn, if I’m understanding you right, you actually have it worse than I do. I’ve only had two people downvote anything I post, no matter what it is. They’ve been on you way heavier, so I get why you’re calling it sketchy.
I’m just trying to understand the logic here. Do they really think this makes Hive or Ecency better? Silently downvoting people without context, without feedback, without saying a word doesn’t improve anything. It just kills momentum.
I’m still learning this platform as I go. I don’t claim to know everything. But it’s hard to learn or grow when the only interaction you get is subtraction.
Like you said, they think they’re shaping something important by moving like this. But that kind of behavior doesn’t build history. At best, it makes them a footnote. At worst, they won’t even be remembered.
That’s the difference between building a platform and just interfering with it.
On most platforms, if you’re doing something wrong, people guide you. They give criticism. They explain. That’s how you improve.
Here, it feels different.
From my point of view, instead of guidance, you just get hit with a downvote and silence. No explanation. No direction. Nothing to learn from. How is anyone supposed to grow like that?
It almost feels like the message is, “How dare you walk in here without already knowing 100 percent how this place works.”
But that’s not how communities grow. People learn by making mistakes and being corrected, not by being quietly pushed toward the door.
If the goal is improvement, there has to be communication. Otherwise it just feels like gatekeeping, not mentoring.
