The peace candidate

I remember vividly having a heated discussion with a friend of mine, a good friend of mine over the "War Mongering Democrats"- the idea that: if Harris wins, the war machine will get turned up to eleven. I should message them now.

is time to invade iran.jpeg

Let’s Be Honest

Our government has been—and probably will keep being—all over the place. It’s like a pendulum swinging wild on social issues, economic fixes, you name it. But there’s one thing they never waver on: their love for the war machine.

Doesn’t matter who’s in charge—Democrat, Republican, whatever—the military budget always goes up. We love bombing places so much, we’re running out of targets. I still remember Obama snagging a Nobel Peace Prize while the US was busy blowing the Middle East to bits. Don’t let the facts get in the way of a good story, right?

This is why I pushed back when my friends said Trump would be different. Different how? Where’s the incentive to de-escalate? To make the Pentagon pass a single audit? They keep “losing” billions, and nobody’s ever held accountable. Not one person. Funny how that works.

War Is the Perfect Shield

Maybe there’s a perk in it for them. Wartime’s the best time to dodge criticism—keeps a presidency safe from too many hard questions. Who knows? You and I aren’t allowed to know. That’d make things too democratic, too transparent, and we can’t have that, can we?

Bombs Are the New Diplomacy

So, since we’re all about “diplomacy” in global politics, I guess we’ll just keep bombing everyone to smithereens. Saw it in the manual—right next to the IKEA instructions for a bookshelf. Build it, break it, repeat.

Before someone thinks I’m defending Iran or picking sides—nope, I’ve got no dog in that fight. I just don’t see how another war makes America great. I figured greatness came from using our cash on our own people, not dropping it from planes. Guess I missed the memo.

Ah, yes, the peace president. That's what they told me also. How many days passed before he began saber rattling, then dropping bombs?

does it feel like it's been a year already to you? It does to me. What is that? Temporal warping of a kind.

This is a guy who is desperate for a peace prize. The US has a long history of waging war around the world and someone is profiting from it all. It's a sad state of affairs.

some of his cheerleaders are already demanding he get one. Immunity to reality is a thing these days.

Can't they make him a prize with tinfoil and tell him it's from the Nobel?

Carlin said it best...

“We like war! We’re good at it! We’re a war-like people! We like war because we’re good at it, and it’s a good thing we are—we’re not very good at anything else anymore! Can’t build a decent car, can’t make a TV set or a VCR worth a fuck, got no steel industry left, can’t educate our young people, can’t get health care to our old people—but we can bomb the shit out of your country, alright? Especially if your country is full of brown people—oh, we like that, don’t we? That’s our hobby!”

Trump and the current Republican attitude are less belligerent than the Democrats have been since the Obama administration kicked off its escalation of war, but I am under no illusion they truly adopted non-interventionism.

from the looks of it, the war with Iran is a done deal.

It certainly seems like it could go that way. Trump is easily led into taking "decisive action" by people who do not have the interests of peace and prosperity held high.

By now, it should be common knowledge that wars are not provoked to win or lose. The only thing that matters is to free oneself from the rich arsenal of old material, as production cannot tolerate idling. Or is it a question of realistically testing the new toy?
In this case, the human material that falls by the wayside is referred to as collateral damage.
