Why Governments Fight Each Other Than Work Together?

avatar

This is really a no brainer, if you're in a house with your family, it's best for everyone in the home when you work together rather than fighting and competing with each other for self interest.

So how come with all our advancements, enlightenment from years of history lessons and intelligence, governments of countries still choose to compete and fight for more.

You could say scarcity is the reason. Perhaps you're right for saying that. Maybe the competition will end when everyone has enough.

But who's to decide whether it is enough or not. There's a saying I can't forget and it was in an animation movie titled "Over the Hedge"

It's a 9 second video so you can watch and you may laugh though.

To humans, enough is never enough.

Do you not see billionaires fighting and competing for more and sometimes employ very malicious means to get more of what they already have plenty.

What makes them still seek for more?

The answer is power, money and security. The same old story, just dressed in new technology.

Governments scramble, corporations maneuver and the rest of us just sit and watch as the future gets carved up behind closed doors with us not having any say in the decision.

Do you realize that almost any groundbreaking innovation starts with promises of progress, then quickly turns into a battlefield for control.

Look at AI for instance. We used to talk only about what it'll do for the benefit of everyone but now that it's here, it has become a race, a competition between the nations.

Look at cryptocurrency too. It was just about financial freedom and the government even hated it. But the moment they spotted the potential value they could take advantage of, it has now become a competition of who has more.

Trump talks about crypto as part of America's agenda to "winning"

The moment an innovation becomes a game changer, the ones already holding the cards don’t want to lose their grip. It’s not about making life better for everyone, it’s about who gets to call the shots.

If you think about what happened in history, you realize the narrative has always been the same.

First, the hype, the excitement, the potential from business and tech giants or startups. Then comes the regulations, the restrictions, the power plays from the government.

And suddenly, what was once a tool for freedom and well-being starts looking more like another instrument of control. Sadly, I don't see an end in sight for this narrative.

And let’s not pretend security is just about protection. These days we can see it clearly, it’s about leverage. The country that dominates the tech sets the rules and the powerful countries like America and China really understand this, therefore they don't joke with tech at all.

They decide who gets access, who gets left behind and who gets punished for stepping out of line, their line of course.

Just so you know, this has nothing to do with paranoia, it’s history repeating itself.

The race for dominance is not a new thing because thousands of years ago, it was literally how empires expanded, by going to war and claiming dominance over other empires.

But in our time, it's not about slavery and getting more human slave workers but the tools and technology is what they're fighting over.

Maybe it’s naïve of me to hope for a different outcome anytime soon. Maybe it’s inevitable that we keep fighting ourselves to a point where we destroy everything.

It's just that, watching the same cycle play out, time and time again gets a little exhausting.

It's not about wisdom to know that war and negative competition won't help the world, because these powerful men and women in government know that what they're doing is wrong but the thirst for winning, dominating, calling the shots and having ultimate power is why they keep doing it regardless.

How do we solve this issue?

If we change the people in power it won't solve the issue because for generations it's been the same outcome with different people.

I think the best thing we can do is to set up some measures and systems to ensure that no one has ultimate power enough to decide for everyone.

Isn't ultimate power the problem Americans have with Elon Musk and his DOGE team? Lol

What do you think about this situation and how best can we handle it so the world doesn't go to ruins because of it?

People want to believe governments are extensions of the community providing a peaceful way to resolve disputes through discourse and democracy. We all learned this kind of thing in civics.

In reality, governments are territorial monopolies in violence, or gangs writ large. And gangs have turf wars because they turn every encounter from a possible win-win into a zero-sum game at best, and often a choice between bad or worse.

Damn Jacob you summed it up perfectly. The government is just a freaking Mafia looking out for their own gains. It's sad though because that was not their purpose.

Speaking of, do you think it'll be more ideal for robots to take over the government because the problem of government is that it's people in power that are running it

I have to disagree on the purpose of the government. Sure, there's its sales pitch to the public, but it has always been a territorial monopoly in violence to enrich a political class, whether monarchy or democracy.

Having some kind of robotic or algorithmic computerized replacement just hides the plunder behind a veneer of impartiality. Computers suffer garbage in-garbage out, and the people programming it are not immune to the same temptations of an open government.

oh damn you're right on this one man, I guess I didn't consider that it's the same people that'll be controlling the computer to control us so same results
