The Abuse Of Power

One constant change we have noticed in politics is the abuse of power once someone assumes an office. It seems power is intoxicating that no one outsmart her charms. I have seen a countless number of good people change once they assume a position of power and we wonder why. Sometimes we believe they've hidden under sheep clothings before now and other times we call it the political syndrome that one one escapes.

But then, what if it was possible to know if someone would abuse power once in office? Would that help to shape our decision?. I think it would. The fact that we don't see the future robs us of good decisions to make- that's why certain people feel regrets in the choices they have made. Even though people have greed, they sometimes weigh the consequences of their greed with the benefits to see which weigh more.

What drives people to make wrong choices is the assumption based on instant gratification. They believe what they see may become better if he assumes office. If assumption was out of the picture and reality was showcased, people would make better decisions and would only elect leaders that see power as a tool to build and help the weak rather than oppress them.

Certain forms of leadership believe fear and dependence is a tool to command obedience and such form of leadership is mostly seen in politics- thus the reason for their change and the misuse of power. That regime would end if people could see the future and weigh it with their expectations.
